The Food Impact Forum brings together nearly 100 committed participants to debate gastronomic sustainability
This year, the Food Impact Forum—organized as part of Igeho—once again highlighted innovation and sustainability in Swiss gastronomy. We are particularly proud to have brought together so many decision-makers from culinary arts, production, and food service for rich, concrete discussions about the future of the sector.
The second edition of the Food Impact Forum took place yesterday, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the heart of Igeho in Basel—the most important hospitality and gastronomy trade fair in Switzerland. After more than ten years of collaboration between Beelong and key industry stakeholders, we are observing a growing desire: to meet, exchange, and build sustainable solutions together. The program met this ambition with diverse and inspiring contributions.

Data, transparency and impact
Klara Hauser (SV Schweiz) demonstrated, through concrete examples, how data can serve as the foundation for a credible sustainability strategy and make communication with consumers more transparent. Simon Hude, from the Beelong team, presented the new features of the Menu Calculator [page link], explaining how AI helps chefs quickly assess the environmental impact of their dishes. Beelong Calculator, et expliqué comment l’IA aide les chef·fe·s à évaluer rapidement leurs plats sous l’angle de l’impact.
Local innovations & challenges in the food industry
Guillaume Dupré (Reitzel AG) highlighted the opportunities and difficulties of communicating about sustainability in the food industry. Meanwhile, Swen Neumann explained how Localfish is developing a radically local and circular alternative to seafood—a great example of ecological innovation.
Reality Check & Roundtable
Sébastien Humbert, LCA expert, led a factual “reality check,” debunking several myths about sustainable food to identify the most effective levers for action. During the roundtable, participants had the opportunity to exchange directly with the speakers—a key moment that sparked highly concrete discussions.

Atmosphere & gourmet conclusion
The energy in the room was tangible: the open, inspiring atmosphere encouraged deep conversations, new connections, and shared motivation. The event concluded with a generous aperitif featuring a selection of eco-friendly products from our partners—a symbolic and delicious moment that embodies what sustainable gastronomy can be.
What’s next?
